Best place to sell 90% silver coins

I rencetly aquired about $50 in US 90% silver coinage. Where would you guys sell this stuff? I'd rather have name brand silver bars - you get a better % when you sell. I already a have a good number of bars, but I want to convert my 90% to bars by selling or trading.

Re: Best place to sell 90% silver coins

You have to call around to the local and some farther away dealers to find the best price. Its hard to find a reputiable dealer!!! I recenty traded a lot of walkers into American Eagles. I came out pretty good. Also you need to tell them that you want to trade. They may be a little nicer if your trading.

Keep in mind Dealers take off wear for coins. 71.5% =$1face

So you have $50

50 Times .715 = 35.75oz

so take that number times spot silver and you should get close to that

If all you have is 50 bucks worth why bother?

Re: Best place to sell 90% silver coins

I have collected coins for years - there are no coins of numismatic value here. There are a couple rolls of silver washington quarters, most are late 50s or 60s, but a few older ones well circulated and no rarer dates like 32 D or S. A few common date well circulated walker halves, and a bunch of circulated Benjamin halves. A few 64 Kennedys. About 3 rolls of dimes, all Roosevelts, except about a half roll of well circulated common date Mercury dimes - no overdates (no 41/42, etc.). The total is about $50 face value. The value is in the silver only.

Re: Best place to sell 90% silver coins

**You could sell it on Ebay (spruce up the wording a bit...and you'll get over spot for mixed rolls....)

**Send it in to any internet dealer...(apmex is reputable...)

**Where have you been picking up your coins that you collect? Any local dealer should take it off your hands.

**Bring it with you to your next local gun show.

**Bury it off in the woods somewhere, wrapped up tight (PVC?), make up a treasure map...and forget about it. Then when silver hits $250/oz you dig it up and laugh like hell at how stupid you felt burying it...but how smart you feel now!!!!:D

for $50 in face, it is just as easy to find a local dealer and get rid of it; be prepared to not get anywhere close to spot for it; not sure about a trade, they might be willing to give you a better deal in a trade situation.

it does seem that on ebay, it usually goes for spot or even a little extra, but I have seen it go for less too, but ebay is a hassle. Places like CNI and Apmex seem willing to pay a fair price, but that invvolves packaging it up, shipping, and I am not sure if those guys have minimum amounts or not??

getting spot price (or even something close) out of 90% requires a little more legwork than .999. it does seem that people here are willing to give you a fair price, but once again, that involves shipping/packaging, etc

Belive it or not there are reputiable coin dealers out there. All it takes is doing a little calling and telling them what you have and what you want. Thats what i did. Most gave me crappy prices but then i found a guy 30mins away. He treated me really really good and i came out with way more Eagles then i thought i would!!!

Just take a little time and call. Trust me

Re: Best place to sell 90% silver coins

The coins came from the estate of a friend of my mother in law.

Yeah, ebay is a possibility.

I have a local dealer who is a friend - I am sure he will give me a fair shake, but he wants to make a good profit, too.

I'm not a gun enthusiast, and I have enough guns already (a few).

They'll probably end up on ebay or with my friend the dealer...

Thanks for your thoughts.

In a sense using them as tip money or gifts is doing more for promoting the interest.

Sell silver, spread the silver.:D
